Kaplan Orthodontics has a rich history. It was first established in 1969 by orthodontists Drs. David and James Goodchild, who were twin brothers. In 2005, Dr. Jason Kaplan purchased the practice, becoming a solo practitioner in 2006. Dr. Kaplan's love for science, puzzles, and working with children led him to pursue a career in orthodontics which proved to be a natural fit.

Today, the practice is driven by a simple yet profound philosophy: to create happiness and build lasting relationships through smiles. Dr. Kaplan and his team are committed to delivering nothing short of the best orthodontic care to the community. When asked about his biggest inspiration in life or work, Dr. Kaplan answered, “My parents and Walt Disney are my biggest inspirations. My parents worked in my grandfather’s toy sales business and put in long hours. They worked hard and provided excellent customer service. Walt Disney created a brand that is trusted and loved across the globe. He started with nothing and even now creates joy around the world. Their dedication to being the best is what drives me to provide excellent customer care and service.”

Dr. Jason Kaplan has an impressive educational background. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Kansas, a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and a Master of Science degree from the University of Detroit Mercy. Dr. Kaplan actively contributes to the field of orthodontics, holding esteemed positions within professional organizations. He is the upcoming Georgia Delegate to the American Association of Orthodontists and a Key Opinion Leader for Henry Schein Orthodontics.

While orthodontics is serious work, creating a fun and enjoyable office environment is also important to Dr. Kaplan. His fun-loving spirit was apparent in a humorous story he shared with us. Dr. Kaplan recounts, “I received an international package one day. Inside was a set of Invisalign aligners. I was told a celebrity from a popular TV show would be coming to me for orthodontics while filming in the area. We understood their need for privacy so we made sure to schedule their appointment around the filming schedule and the times of day when the practice is most busy. Well, they came in on a cloudy day and we had the window shades pulled up exposing the window. We snuck the celebrity to a quiet part of the office and performed our work. We wanted to be discreet. Because it was dark outside and the lights were on inside, the Pepper’s Ghost effect (when you turn the overhead car light on at night and you can see your reflection in the windshield) occurred and a patient saw the celebrity in the window. He jumped out of the chair and immediately asked for a selfie with the star. The celebrity allowed it and then quickly escaped out the front door.“

Outside of work, Dr. Kaplan enjoys spending time with his wife, Leanne, and their two sons, Matthew and Pace. The Kaplans all share a deep love for Disney theme parks and have visited Florida’s Walt Disney World over fifty times! It's not surprising to learn that they consider the resort their family’s “happy place,” Their love for Disney has even taken the Kaplan family all the way out West to Disneyland a couple of times, too. Dr. Kaplan is always delighted to engage in conversations about Disney, making him a go-to person for discussing the “Most Magical Place on Earth.”
