Welcome to the Atlanta modern homes tour by Z & Co. Design Group! We’ll be taking you inside some of the most stylish and distinctive homes we’ve remodeled in the Buckhead and Brookhaven neighborhoods. For those who don’t know us, hello! For more than a decade, we’ve been creating modern, sophisticated, and timeless spaces that complement our clients’ personalities and lifestyles.
Below you’ll find some of our favorite designs from the area, as well as a little bit of context on how these homes fit right in with their surroundings in some of our favorite neighborhoods in the Atlanta area.
As local interior designers, we draw inspiration from our vibrant community, both past and present. From architecture to locally sourced art and accessories, our designs evoke a sense of place that feels traditional, hospitable, and wonderfully Southern. That’s why this tour wouldn’t be complete without a few local recommendations!
In correspondence with each project, we’ve curated a list of “Where Tos,” inspired by its aesthetics. Check out our selection of local attractions, dining experiences, and shopping destinations that are sure to be as delightful as they are aesthetically pleasing.
Without further ado, let’s get this tour started!
The coffered ceiling in the Project Carmain dining room is a popular feature in Southern homes. Besides aesthetic appeal, it has acoustic benefits, particularly in spaces with high ceilings. We also added a vinyl grasscloth wallcovering to bring the eye up to the fifth wall for a little something unexpected.
Project Carmain was a complete home renovation where we took the house down to the studs and got to start over. The color palette we chose is neutral and classic, but it still makes an impact. The goal was a well-balanced mix of classic and current, and we incorporated trending wallpapers and lots of textures throughout the home to achieve an overall sophisticated look.
Custom furniture design is one of the many services we offer our clients, and we selected custom upholstery for nearly every room of this home. Each room took on such a personality, yet this classic modern home still feels cohesive and flows from space to space.

Each room features graphic and bold statements that are toned down with natural elements and soft accents to achieve a timeless result. The bold blue wall in the primary bedroom was the jumping-off point in this room. We paired it with a soft blush tone for the perfect, unexpected mix.
Our clients for Project Briarwood love original art and vibrant colors. They wanted a natural, mid-century minimalist look that seamlessly combined these elements. Located in the Brookhaven neighborhood, we revamped the entire space into a luxurious, sophisticated haven. We designed walnut vanities with a custom stain finish and used earth-toned tiles to bring in texture and depth. Layers of amazing artwork bring personality to this space.
Original abstract art was carefully sourced for each space at Project Briarwood. From Scott’s Antique Market to weekend estate sales, we scoured the city for statement pieces that would enhance the newly designed rooms.

This space was Inspired by the client’s love for the Italian coast. We incorporated a gilt gold and beaded chandelier, hand-printed accent tiles, and an original Gray Malin print of the Amalfi Coast.
Our aim for the Brookhaven Reno was to imbue each room with a sense of airy serenity. For the bathroom, we drew inspiration from the pristine white sands and captivating blue seas of the Italian coastline. We selected shades of white that have a glowing effect similar to sunbeams reflecting off sand and water.
In the master suite, we layered various materials and shades to create a rich, tactile experience. Using a blend of neutral grays and greiges, we transformed the space into an equally peaceful and stylish haven. As Atlanta interior designers, we were able to infuse this home with just enough Southern flair to feel right at home in Georgia.
Softened by a wall lined in crisp linen, the primary suite at the Brookhaven Reno is its own sanctuary. We used original art that the client purchased in Italy as inspiration for this space and played off the brass tones and vibrant blues.

The wet bar’s backsplash is more than just a subway tile—sourced from Traditions in Tile, this subtle shagreen texture adds interest without overpowering the rest of the space. The bathroom tile, selected from Bedrosians, packs more of a punch and gives us the perfect amount of pattern to play with.
Second to last on our Atlanta modern homes tour, our client wanted a space that would blend her modern taste with a global interior design aesthetic. The Brookhaven Basement features personal touches throughout, including art the client brought back from her travels to Africa. Our favorite features of the renovation are the acoustic-reeded accent wall and the bar cabinets finished in Sherwin-Williams Roycroft Pewter.
The reeded statement wall allows the Frame TV to act as a piece of art and anchor this space. Texture was key in all decisions here, and it was important for all elements to feel natural and organic.

This project showcases the proper way to mix metals to ensure the design’s longevity. The thin metal frame of the dining chairs and counter stools pair perfectly without overpowering the island brass pendants.
The Brookhaven Modern is the pinnacle of modern architecture, with clean lines, minimalist aesthetics, and exceptional attention to detail. Even the natural materials exude a high-end quality to pull off this luxurious design.
The kitchen is a chef’s dream, with modern appliances and a large island that provides plenty of room for food preparation. In the living room, all fabrics are pet and kid-proof, allowing for maximum style without the added stress of accidents.
The round metal coffee table trio from Sunpan is the perfect anchor for the Brookhaven Modern living room.
