Agape Atlanta: Empowering Futures Since 1997

Nell Benn | Chief Executive Officer, Agape Youth & Family Center

For over two decades, Agape Atlanta has been a beacon of hope and opportunity for underserved children and families in northwest Atlanta. Founded in 1997, Agape is dedicated to helping children discover, embrace, and achieve their full potential. Serving over 200 students annually through in-school, afterschool, and summer programs, Agape has become an integral part of the community's fabric.

Through unwavering commitment, Agape sees remarkable outcomes: on average, high school seniors remain with the program for 10 to 12 years. This long-term engagement allows the organization to positively influence behavior, build resilience, and guide life trajectories toward success.

Expanding Impact: New Initiatives for 2024–2025
As Agape grows, it continues to enhance its programs and deepen its impact in the community. Key initiatives for the 2024–2025 school year include:

  1. Navigate Program
A new college and career readiness initiative supporting graduates in their post secondary endeavors. This extends Agape's programming from 13 to 19 years, ensuring continued support during critical life transitions.

  2. Increased Enrollment
Expanded opportunities for students in afterschool programs and senior citizens in the Ragtime Day program have brought total enrollment to over 245 participants.

  3. Family Engagement and Outreach
The introduction of a Deputy Director of Family Engagement and Outreach has enabled Agape to provide families with vital resources and workshops. These include ESOL classes, financial literacy training, entrepreneurship programs, and homeownership guidance.

With over 1,000 hours of programming offered per student each year, Agape’s holistic approach ensures children and families receive the support they need to thrive.

Get Involved
Agape is only able to offer free programming that impacts Atlanta through the generous partnership of neighbors and friends, which is why we need YOU. We thrive because of the kindness of individuals, businesses, and organizations that believe in our mission. Here’s how you can make a difference:

  • Partnerships: Join us in creating customized collaborations that benefit your business, civic or faith-based organization and the community.

  • Volunteer Opportunities: Engage your family, friends and team in hands-on service opportunities that leave a lasting impact.
